What is Meditation?

Meditation means ‘Silencing the Mind’.
It is about ‘Emptying the Mind’ of all thoughts, wanted or unwanted..!

It is being aware of the present and of oneself at every moment, moment to moment.

The ancient practice of quietening and relaxing the “thinking” mind is Meditation.

Meditation is a state, not a process. It is a state of being in touch with one’s own divinity.

What happens when we Meditate?

With the Breath, we learn to connect with our inner voice, the real we, with a clear and unique life
purpose. Once we learn to connect to the space of this consciousness, outwardly our life may appear
the same, but our response to situations would have positively changed.
All contributing to a happier and peaceful life!
Meditation is a tool for Self- Exploration. It helps us to learn to witness our thoughts, know the mind-
body-spirit connection and understand the language of Silence
Meditation allows the inflow of the ever-present cosmic energy that raises our vibrational
frequency. This shift in energy brings desirable changes to our external world, which is just a
reflection of our inner world.

Ultimately the practice of meditation leads one to Self-Awakening.
Everyone can experience the benefits of Meditation irrespective of whether they have attempted it before or not.

The call to meditate came to me when I was 25 years old. I knew nothing of the subject; I just felt a desire to sit with myself in silence. Thirteen years later, I know I am a completely different person directly as a result of this process of self contemplation. My mind and the way it used to think, the belief systems I had and the filters with which I processed the world around me were so limiting. I did not know who I was or my place in this world. Over the years, doing spiritual practices like meditation with dedication and absorbing Master's guidance, I can confidently say that mind is completely different, it is transformed. The automatic assumptions, self doubt, negative thinking, all swept over with faith and trust. My mind just doesn't think the way it used to. With Master leading me, I know I can achieve the highest I can be, I can express my divine nature in this physical form and by doing so I can help make this world a better place.

How Do I Meditate?

Sit in an upright position on a chair or on the floor. Cross the feet, clasp the hands, finger to finger and close your eyes. Now silently observe the flow of the breath. The normal, natural, easy flowing breath. With complete focus on the breath, all the external thoughts fall away.

“Watch the Breath” with full awareness.

Be aware of the present moment with each inhale and exhale of our breath.

Each breath is important!

Then the inner journey starts,

The journey to the Source…

Sitting with our breath is the simplest yet most powerful form of meditation.
Find a place in your home that you are comfortable with.
Sit on the floor if you are used to sitting down cross legged.
Otherwise sit on a chair and cross your feet at your ankle.
Clasp your hands finger to finger and keep on your lap in a relaxed manner.
Close your eyes and observe your normal breath.
Watch the inflow and outflow of your breath.
Inhalation and exhalation. inbreath and outbreath.
Quieten your mind and allow your entire focus and concentration to be on your breath.
When thoughts come, cut them away and bring your attention to your natural breath again.
Continue for about 45 minutes to an hour.
Bring yourself back by unclasping your hands and keeping them on your eyes for 5 seconds. Slowly open your eyes.
Do this every day for 41 days. Your life would get lifted to a different plane spiritually and physically

Yes, it is meditative. It is meditative. It is not meditation. Because like sometimes you know people say my music is my meditation, my work is my meditation. But you see everything has in, everything has a purpose. Everything has a purpose also, music has a purpose. And reading is my meditation. It has a purpose. It is very, it makes you meditative. But it also gives you knowledge. What is the purpose for sitting and reading, for meditation? No, you went for reading, you went to listen to music, because you want to listen to music, it gives you a meditative state. That is agreed. But you have, you have, an intention that through this I’ll gain this. So music will give you something. In addition, it is putting you in a meditative state. For some people, they’re very passionate about cooking. They say my cooking is my meditation. Fine, it gives you a meditative state. Meditation has a purpose. That purpose is to silence your mind. There are so many things there, those things don’t come. It’s not that it doesn’t come, maybe it will come only by music or a period of 100 years or lifetimes or whatever. But when you do meditation it will happen in one year. So what is your intention? You want to, I want to make my mind peaceful and this thing, then you should go for this practice. For something else also as a byproduct also will give me. Then you decide okay, I’m happy with by product. I’m doing two things. It will take more time.

Energy differences are there everywhere and our ability to absorb also varies. Sometimes we are more focused, sometimes we are not that receptive. So it depends on how we receive and depends on what kind of environment we are sitting in. Now tomorrow if you go and meditate at the same place, it may not be light. It can be different.
Every meditation is different.

This is something you have to work on yourself. Read about spiritual science. We never do anything unless we feel there is benefit in us. Do we do anything in which there is no benefit? We do anything only because we feel it is benefitting us. You do thrice a week because you do not believe it will really benefiting. You believe but not enough. Belief is 50%. But you come for these programmes, you attended meditation sessions, that means there is an inner belief somewhere, you know. The only way you can convert that into seven out of seven, is understanding the subject more, so, read about this subject. Don’t start reading a very deep spiritual book because then it becomes a study, it becomes a task. Read stories, spiritual stories, people or Gurus who interest you like Osho or Sadhguru, any Guru who has written something. They would have written about so many different things and maybe you could read spiritual stories as recited by Gurus or Gods. Then there will be an interest, knowing that there was this man who did something, who got enlightened, you know. We never know what spurs you, what acts a catalyst for you to really get into the subject. We don’t know. You have to trick your mind, you have to give your mind lot of different subjects, different things and second one would be to be in a satsang on a regular basis. Weekly you should go to a place where there is meditation is happening or any spiritual activity happening. So, when you get to meet people who are at the same page, unknowingly it will push us more and more deeper into it. If you are not in touch with any people who are into spirituality, if you don’t read any book, anything connected to spirituality, then you have to be a very strong willed person to get into meditation on a daily basis, one hour per day, everyday. You have to give yourself certain things around yourself. So, satsang, group meditations or meeting people of the same kind, reading a book is important.

Basically when we look at people, we see physical body but more than physical body there are energy bodies which cover us. We, the souls are covered by energy bodies and the physical body. The energy body has something called chakras. We have seven major chakras and minor chakras so we have something called third eye here, the ‘ajna chakra’ . So, when you start meditating, at some level it will get activated. That is when people start seeing colours.

You’ll get used to it. Basically when energy comes, it moves from the lowest chakras upwards. When it reaches the third eye chakra, you’ll start feeling a throbbing sensation here. It basically tells you that you have become sensitive to energy. It tells you that chakra is getting activated and over a period of time, it will go. Not that you’ll always be uncomfortable, you will stop noticing it. It’s a passing phase.
